Billion Dollar Corporations Bankroll Poverty WagesPolitical Action Committees opposing Proposition 210 have raised over $2.25 million from huge corporations in the past few weeks. Major donations to No on 210 PACs include:
Pepsico: For Some Rich Corporations, Greed Has No LimitPepsico gave $50,000 to a No on 210 PAC. Pepsico is poverty wage employer that want to squeeze the last penny out of its hard working employees. Pepsico own Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut and Chevy's restaurants, Frito Lay, and Pepsi soft drinks. Last year Pepsico made a profit of $1.6 billion and paid its CEO Roger Enrico, $13.8 million in salary and stock options. Yet Pepsico doesn't want to share even 60 cents an hour with its hard working employees. It would take a minimum wage Taco Bell worker 1400 years to earn as much as Mr. Enrico made in one year. New Jobs Up: Federal Minimum Wage Raise Caused No Job LossSACRAMENTO, CA -- Backers of Prop. 210, the initiative to raise the minimum wage, hailed today's U.S. Department of Labor report that the nation's economy created 210,000 new jobs in October, after the $.50 increase in the federal minimum wage. This job growth represented a sharp turn-around from September, when non-farm jobs had fallen by 35,000. "Today's report that 200,000 new jobs were created since the October. 1 increase in the federal minimum wage shows how false are the opposition's claims that Prop. 210 will cost California jobs," said Yes on 210 Campaign Manager Richard Holober . | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
